# Formats and limits

> Which files AiGenda accepts and which rules apply to titles, size, and duration.

## Formats

AiGenda accepts common audio and video formats: **MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, WebM, MP4**. For video, AiGenda uses the audio track.

| Format | `content_type` | Extension in `title` |
| - | - | - |
| MP3 | `audio/mpeg` | `.mp3` |
| M4A (AAC) | `audio/mp4` | `.m4a` |
| WAV | `audio/wav` | `.wav` |
| OGG (Opus) | `audio/ogg` | `.ogg` |
| WebM | `audio/webm` or `video/webm` | `.webm` |
| MP4 | `video/mp4` | `.mp4` |

## Recording title

**`title` must end with the file extension.** AiGenda detects the format by the extension in the title, not by `content_type`. A recording without an extension will upload, but processing will fail.

| `title` | Result |
| - | - |
| `Standup 17.10.mp3` | Processes |
| `Standup 17.10` | Fails: AiGenda takes `.10` as the extension |

A title can be up to 255 characters, including the extension. Slashes, colons, and dots inside the title are allowed.

## Size and duration

* Specify `size` exactly, in bytes. The storage issues links for that size.
* The file uploads in parts of about 10 MB: you get as many links as there are parts. Learn more: [Uploading a file](/en/upload/file).
* For processing, the minutes left must cover the whole recording. A meeting bot needs at least 5 minutes left.

## Duration in the file

AiGenda calculates the charge and builds timestamps from the duration stored in the file. Regular WebM files are processed, but WebM straight from the browser's `MediaRecorder` is often saved without a duration. Such a file gets a duration of 0 and is not processed. Remux it before uploading:

```bash theme={null}
ffmpeg -i recording.webm -c:a libopus -b:a 48k recording.ogg
```

## Mono or stereo

AiGenda downmixes the audio to mono and separates speakers on its own. Stereo does not improve the result, and the file gets bigger. Mono Opus at 32–48 kbps is enough for speech: an hour of recording weighs 15–22 MB.
